The pterodactyl returns to Nova Scotia after a very long absence.

Yesterday was my 18th anniversary of being diagnosed with cancer. To ‘celebrate’ I went to a beautiful lake in the wilderness to take photos of water scorpions, fishing spiders, red mites, caddisfly larvae, and all sort of creepy crawlies that live in, or around, the lake.
Me, female, standing in the lake, hiking pole in left hand and red camera in my right hand. Glorious sunny day. Lake surrounded by stunning granite boulders with mixed woodland behind them. Smiling at camera, not knowing I was about to make friends with a huge, gorgeous fishing spider on the next rock.

Someone, @morungos.bsky.social, who gave me this for my birthday today, forgot to put his clocks forward, so my homemade nut roast for lunch was ready at 1pm & his roast veggies for my birthday lunch weren’t ready until 2pm 😂

Happy Rabbie Burns Day! Delicious homemade veggie haggis, mashed tatties with lashings of butter, baked beans (essential if you’re a real Scot), a wee medley of roasted neeps, garlic & cauliflower. Washed down with homemade Autumn Olive wine & a wee dram of Caol Illa. Leftover Xmas crackers too!!

Fat red mite underwater. These beasties are so small, it’s hard to get good photos. And they swim off if you get too close to them!!

Found the otter’s toilet. A whole lake shore of poop.
