boycott whoever you want. I made it clear that I'm not really on Disney's side here. But Disney didn't lose ANY money from the boycott. (monthly returns) They lost $4B over bad press stock devaluation. It's much more complicated than can go into short little microblog bursts. Hence my podcast ep.

yep! Totally. And people sort of miss that unless a boycott is organized and targeted it sort of doesn't work. You need the masses to do it at once and that takes more planning than just a tweet or two.

But as for Disney… if they call the bluff & FCC pulls all affiliate licenses, then their broadcast network division is effectively useless. Would Carr/Trump have done that? Why not at this point? compared to his 23,457,893,629 other actions that conventional thought says would sink a presidency?

well, first Nextstar wasn't willing to take that chance (and they're very much not on the side of freedom of expression and the arts here). But also not really affected by hurting Disney. So if they called the bluff & FCC pulled the licenses that's an existential threat even BEFORE their FTC merger…

I'm certainly not arguing that anyone should suckle any part of the capitalist teet they don't want. Disney are not blameless victims who need our charity. I'm saying that in THIS *SPECIFIC* CASE they're not the actual villain and that villain doesn't care (and in fact he's laughing on his own site)
