No need to mention names, but one example was when I was told you can’t be a Christian and practice Stoicism. I value the foundation from what the original Greek Stoics believed in the Logos for example and find it fascinating to understand, but that doesn’t put a limit on one’s faith.

I agree and it’s frustrating. Particularly when some know it all academic type believes some fragment from 2000 years ago is the final say. Modern people can and should continue to evolve philosophy.
