I interpret it as a fake suit of armour, but a really cheap one. Maybe cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil for the head and body, duct hose for the arms and legs

It started as an activity on the conceptart forums in 2007 as a way for artists to track the evolution of their work over time. I missed the first year, but I've been participating every year since.
Here's my 2008 entry, done in a few minutes with a mouse because I didn't have a tablet back then.
