The Hubballi-Dharwad BRT cut travel times in half and delivered metro-like speeds, but the system is showing signs of wear. Instead of removing the corridor—as some have suggested—the government should focus on targeted upgrades and service reforms. Here’s how:

What improvements do riders want to see in the Hubballi-Dharwad BRT system?
▪️More buses
▪️Safer driving
▪️Better bus maintenance
▪️Real-time customer information
▪️New BRT corridors in areas without service

Can we pedestrianise Ahmedabad’s Ravivari Bazaar?

It’s annoying to have vehicle drivers honking and forcing their way through the market.

The Hubballi-Dharwad BRT showcases the potential to offer fast, reliable public transport service at a fraction of the cost of metro construction.

The arrival experience in Udaipur:
❌ No pedestrian crossing outside the train station
❌ No footpaths

And the government is busy building an elevated highway through the city centre. 🤦‍♂️

Even the Motorist Association of Kenya is questioning the proposal to build an elevated highway on Thika Rd.

The group points out that the real issue is the Pangani bottleneck and calls for investment in BRT.

When the need of the hour is fast and efficient public transport, the last thing Nairobi should be building is another elevated highway.

There are designs and financing offers for BRT Lines 3, 4, and 5. Why are we only thinking about how to speed up cars?

I’m glad to see that the Surat Station redevelopment incorporates BRT, but have you noticed that the design puts car drop-offs closer than the BRT station?

Moving forward, let’s ensure that these station redevelopment initiatives prioritise public transport.

“Planners can easily mistake ‘planning’ for ‘design.’ Believing this, they can make urban plans that are akin to architectural plans for company towns like Jamshedpur, or new towns like Chandigarh, where everything can and has to be designed.”

The walking environment outside Commerce Six Roads metro station.

After spending INR 12,900 crore on the first phase of the metro, is this the best we can do for last-mile access?

Bengaluru’s Namma Metro has a large horizontal and vertical boarding gap.

I see that BMRCL has installed rubber strips at the door positions to help address the problem, but I hope the agency can incorporate level boarding from the start on future corridors.
