I figured out why multiplayer player cameras were broken when a new player joined... just one checkbox!
A UI element from the Godot game engine, this "Current" checkbox is set to "On" and tells the engine to make this camera the "current" camera from a first person perspective. The checkbox should not have been checked. A scene from the game Flying Islands, looking on a white blocky island in the middle of an ocean, with many trees, ships and players on the island.
