Reread House of Suns by Alastair Reynolds recently. Slower than light dramatically increases the scope of the universe, it’s great. The book ends with a 60,000 year car chase across the galaxy, which Star Wars would treat like a quick trip to Walmart.

I don't know why everyone is bagging on this person, cinematic language is very clear: if the dead body is not explicitly shown, they are probably alive. And even if the body is shown and there's a whole funeral and everything, Llewelyn could still return as Dr Doom in the sequel.

Went on a lil Frankenstein binge after the new movie, reread the OG novel and then reread The Frankenstein Papers by Fred Saberhagen, which is a fun POV from the monster explaining how the original novel is actually all BS.
