It's actually an ok game, if you're not expecting a full-blown RPG but rather a Mystic Quest-even-lighter. And even that game had its fans and a banger soundtrack.

I'd be really interested in reading your full thoughts on it. Especially since I personally cannot get into RE since the reboot, while I still somewhat enjoyed 5 and 6. I don't even know why. I cursed 5 at the time, but now I feel ok about it and miss the original 3 still.

NATO is dead once an actual case of article 5 is rejected by the majority of its members. What I'd say, though, is that it's as close to dead as it ever was and if we don't, at least in Europe, get our shit together, we will all be dog food. It's high time for the EU to rise to the challenge.

That said there are people who absolutely love it as well as people who absolutely despise it. I'm somewhere in the middle. It's the worst PB game to me, but it's still ok for one playthrough. Just lower your expectations to R2 instead of E1. And don't let the E1 ending excite you, too much.

Combat and exploration by jetpack have been improved, but it's not enough to make up for the technical issues, the bad quests, bland story and completely messed up character personalities. It also felt the least PB of them all and I can't even really say why.

That's what we all want to know. Development switched from their in-house engine to UE4, characters and animations look fugly, especially the MC, Jax. The second half of the game is basically just mass slaughter quests, the story also suffers from a lack of direction and these bland quests.
December 7, 2025 at 10:18 PM
make sense, as if the original MC was originally planned and later replaced. It's an ok to good game, just nothing groundbreaking, especially in PBs formula. Elex I feel is much better and the closest to the original G1.

right direction, but it's still pretty rough and the pirate setting might not be for everyone. I also didn't like the ship battles at all. Factions were interesting, though. R3 also shows a bit of retcon. I won't spoil anything here but the MC is not the one from R1 & R2 and some things don't quite

Worth a mention, I'm a huge Gothic veteran. I have a whole disk partition just for G1/2 and their mods. So I'm not speaking from just having played each game once ages ago. Us Gothic fans were hoping for PB to get back on track since R2, but it just never really happened. R3 goes a bit more in the

It is much better than 2, in my opinion, but still much worse than 1. The PB formula works, but the game is stupidly easy. I like it, just replayed it again last year, it's definitely enjoyable. If I had to rank the games I'd say:

G1 9/10
G2 10/10
G3 7/10
R1 8/10
R2 5/10
R3 6.5/10
E1 8/10
E2 5/10

Personally I feel it almost only went downhill after Risen 1. Elex was quite good still, but nothing beats the classics that are G1 & G2.

I love the games, though I was never a big fan of time pressure. There's actually a fan patch keeping the online gameplay alive on PCSX2 and it's super fun to play.

You are. But it's not yet 100% in the saddle and could still be thrown off, but it will be tough, require a lot of civil courage, a united opposition and some spine (seems impossible) from some of the current spineless enablers.

I just realized I don't have the original of that photo of Napoléon III, so here's another one plus the two other originals 😅

A hobby I do not find much time for, but I love colorizing photos for relaxation 😄 I'll attach the originals in a reply.
July 19, 2025 at 3:28 PM
Either way, nothing we do will ever be like the original 80%. We're just doing guesstimates.
July 11, 2025 at 9:12 AM
I fully agree. As far as I've heard there are now plans to continue the recreation on the finished RE2 engine which makes sense, I believe. Probably better than to try and implement a storage box, saving process and item dropping on the incomplete 40% build. I'm still hoping for the 80% one, tho.
July 11, 2025 at 9:12 AM
The actual game, while still probably not as amazing as we made it out to be, would have been much more interesting if it had been the 80% build. Alas, it was never leaked and I fear it may never. But who knows.
July 11, 2025 at 8:35 AM
It's still sad for me that all we ever got is the 40% build all the while knowing that the 80% one exists and is in the hands of collectors unwilling to part with it. Right now the one fan rebuild by Martin Biohazard is just a best estimate and there is no save function or item dropping 😞

No problem :) GOG is a great platform and this initiative is indeed amazing and I hope they will keep going with it.
June 18, 2025 at 10:28 AM
This is an absolutely fantastic initiative on their part and finally gives them their niche beyond being just another marketplace for games, albeit with more retro games than modern ones. And the best thing is the changes they make usually make the games run great via Proton as well.
June 18, 2025 at 10:26 AM
They modify them themselves. Of course what's being done differs from game to game. Seems like the DMC games worked out of the box, but I've attached a screenshot of the changes to BoF4 where you can see how much they did to make it work. They also offer technical support for these games.
June 18, 2025 at 10:22 AM
GoG is first and foremost no DRM, but in this Preservation Program they go above and beyond to implement necessary fixed and workarounds to make these old games run out of the box and without issues on modern machines. Check out their recent Breath of Fire IV release. The original port was a mess.

Apologies, mate. I'm not usually in the habit of checking people's profiles. I've met too many people, here in Poland, who lick up Russian propaganda, so I jumped to conclusions.
