Yesterday (15th Oct) was the anniversary of the 1854 marriage of my great-great-grandparents William Martin & Esther Jane Standen in St Mary's Church, Rye, East Sussex. I don't know who Bathsheba Horne who signed the marriage register was - she sounds like a character from Thomas Hardy

Weekend trip to Northampton - mainly to attend a funeral but did have walk at Hunsbury Hill on Saturday morning. The Northants Ironstone Railway was not open that day though

Attended dedication ceremony yesterday afternoon for new plaque in Canterbury Cemetery commemorating civilian victims of the Baedeker blitz in 1942 and other aid raids, many of whom are buried in the cemetery in identical graves.

Stained glass windows in the Church of St Gregory and St Martin, Wye, Kent - depicting Kentish agricultural scenes (hops, apples, sheep etc) and Cardinal John Kempe, Archbishop of Canterbury (died 1454) who came from Wye. Windows installed 1951 to replace WW2 bomb-damaged windows #LocalHistory #Kent
