Though, at least in the clip I've seen, he doesn't say what he means by that. Far-righters are taking it to mean he shares their 'we want our country back' shtick but, maybe, he means he despairs of their malignity?

A new low, even by Goodwin's increasingly awful standards. Anxiety (no scare quotes are needed) takes many forms. And using his social media bully pulpit to punch down is despicable.

Immigration, indecency, and incompetence. New post on my Brexit & Brexitism Blog. The ever-more indecent terms of the immigration 'debate' are another failure of Brexit, which links to the ever-more obvious incompetence of Reform in local government: chrisgreybrexitblog.blogspot.com/2025/10/immi...

Brexit eruptions. New post on my Brexit & Brexitism Blog looking at Tory madness, Labour’s ‘blame Farage’ strategy, the Brexit impasse and a suggestion of a way forward, and the latest ‘reset’ news. Bonus feature: a feeble new Brexit metaphor: chrisgreybrexitblog.blogspot.com/2025/10/brex...

It was inevitable that far-right agitators like Goodwin would try to exploit the Manchester atrocity in this despicable way. I really hope that people will instead recall Tony Walsh's spine-tingling reading of 'This is the Place' after the Manchester Arena bombing: www.youtube.com/watch?v=josa...

Excellent and important piece from @benansell.bsky.social. I've written a few amateurish things on the same issue (see e.g. below) but this is a proper, data-rich, analysis of the political psychology/ sociology of it.

There is another country. Latest post on my Brexit & Brexitism Blog discussing the thuggery, sanctimony and hypocrisy of the last fortnight, and how Starmer should lead in articulating an alternative version of patriotism to that of the far-right: chrisgreybrexitblog.blogspot.com/2025/09/ther...

In addition to the post, to accompany the new Blog title there is a new, separate Blog Page setting out in detail what ‘Brexitism’ means. Defining Brexitism: chrisgreybrexitblog.blogspot.com/p/defining-b... 2/2

This is just getting ridiculous. Nothing that has happened (or is reported below the headline to have happened) this weekend remotely justifies talk of an explosion or mass protests. The media are confecting a crisis, and, in some sections of it, hoping to provoke one. 1/3

Some of the details in it are wrong (I was less versed in them then), or now out of date. But the closing paragraph, at the end of the section headed 'Buyers' remorse' succinctly describes exactly what subsequently happened and, reading it even now, I am still angry: 6/8

So it's now 7 years since the vote to leave the EU. For a detailed account & analysis of what happened from the day after that, see my book, "Brexit Unfolded: How no one got what they wanted (and why they were never going to)" (2nd, updated, edition 2023): www.bitebackpublishing.com/books/brexit...

You don't. But equally you don't know whether products *not* required to be marked NFEU meet EU standards. Neither the presence nor the absence of the mark tells you anything about whether or not it meets EU standards.
