Ruth Rubin's Voice of a People (I'm looking at the 1973 2nd ed., p. 63-64) has a pat-a-cake rhyme that starts with buying a little boy shoes and ends with his becoming a rabbinical scholar. It is not in this question and answer form, but is followed directly after by one that is
