Being the capital has always made Juneau a stage. The character who did it for you is one kind that came here in droves after the 60s. Arriving hippies became tier 1 employees and landholders. Attention seekers love small towns, but like anywhere the real community has no gatekeepers. Best to you:)

Black bears fortunately. Brown bears stake out the bigger drainages like Taku to the south and Eagle River and Berners Bay to the north.

Human. But there is a small late run of Sockeyes still underway and attracting bears up Steep Creek which drains into the lake.

You're welcome. I guess I'll keep an eye out for a lower tide:) Back to the 70s the seaplane docks most in public use were downtown, and the airport float pond, but a plane could pull up anywhere handy. Cheers
