You vote for him because you see he is a rational centrist in many ways and you are tired of the MAGA politicians. It offers them a valid alternative. 1% of the Republican vote can actually win elections. We have to move to the center to win and then slowly push left.

I will have to listen to the podcast itself to agree or disagree with what he did or said. I just know his stances on most things are logical and left. 70 million people aren't 1%.

What policies is he supporting? I'm curious how you could call Newsom a rightist. I mean, if you are coming from an extreme left position, sure, he's right of that. The fact is he has passed many liberal policies and is definitely left of Kamala. They are not the same and he'd have to win a primary.

I don't care if its a single trans athlete. It's a difficult discussion to have but one of fairness for everyone involved and I don't know what that answer is.

Newsom is trying to bridge the gap. He is opposed to trans women competing against naturally born women. Is that anti-trans? Is it fair to say that trans women competing against naturally born females is at least a complex answer for what is fair? He passed many pro-trans bills to protect trans.

Kamala? She kept people locked up in privately owned prisons to make her donors/frends more money and gain power in the Democrat party? She wasn't ever an actual progressive and she was FORCED on everyone. Progressives are winning in progressive cities sure.. again not who you have to win over.

He doesn't have less of a chance than she does. Plenty of progressives will vote for him if he gets the nod in the primaries and those that don't will be doomed to repeat having someone like Trump in office. No decent person can want that. Trump LITERALLY removed trans from stonewall site.

His attempt is to move to a more moderate stance. That is the only way you are going to get someone half decent in the white house and win senate seats. It's definitely not that trans rights or homeless people should be treated that way. He has to at least appear moderate to win.

She isn't viewed as "mildly progressive" by the people in swing states, where these votes matter most right now. She cannot win a general election. It will not happen. I agree with her on a lot of things but she is not the candidate to win where half this country voted in a rapist.
