Thanks for this piece. As someone who's suffered from undiagnosed autism/ADHD issued for the last 50 odd years I find the current discourse does a real disservice to those of us who find the condition to be absolutely debilitating rather than a device to help describe our own quirky brilliance.

I despised the Thatcher regime but often found myself grudgingly respecting them because they would cede ground on points that were ideologically important to them but which were opposed by the Courts or the Lords or the (unwritten) Constitution etc.. Not always but often. Wouldn't happen anymore.
