I guess the tentpoles are probably: folklore from the AOL, the Aes Sedai, the Prophecies of the Dragon, and things like Rhuidean. To your point, all of that only takes us back one age and through the conclusion of the current one. The prophecies appear to support the workings of the pattern though.

He kind of presents it as accepted fact and seemingly wants us to do the same, but I agree: a globally-accepted cosmology is a weird and unlikely thing! There are bits available to us *as readers* to support a lot of it, but I don't know how the laypeople of Randland got there.

The Heroes of the Horn have been reborn repeatedly and carry memories of their previous lives. I don't suppose this proves the cyclical nature of the Ages, but it does appear to prove the cyclical nature of *individual lives* in a way not tainted by the dark one.
