One would hope that some oil company, like BP or Exxon, would conclude that it is in its own self interest to prepare for a post-oil energy economy. They're the ones positioned already to do the R&D, the changeover in workforce training, etc. They have brand recognition.
They should be smarter.

Heh. Sometimes there will be a cast reunion on Zoom, though I'm not aware of one this year.
But yeah. If there were going to be any updates from BW, they'd likely happen today.

Heh. Sorry to hear that. I do have to say, though, that the notion that even an actor as esteemed as Cumberbatch can trip over a word I can say easily does put a bit of wind in my sails when I need it.
Good luck with your trousers.

Alternatively, you can find an actual human to narrate your videos. Sure, we're not as fast, but we sound just like real people!

I don't doubt that the AI license costs less overall; that's the entire point of companies using it.
We have to remind them that not putting listeners in an audio-induced uncanny valley is worth the price.

It depends on what the circle in the corner is for. If it's an ad, it's one rate. If it's e-learning, it's another. It also depends on the voice. If you want Steve Blum, you're going to pay Steve Blum rates. I work much cheaper.
For, say, 4 hours flat, I'd charge probably $700/hr (GVAA rate).

Or people could do the right thing and pay voice actors to do their jobs. Same for graphics designers. Let artists do the art stuff. Computers can do the computer stuff.

Kinda depends on what the work is. A couple of national 30-second ads could hit 3k pretty quickly. If you're getting corporate HR training videos, or an adiobook, it'll take much longer.
I'm on board with your point, btw. VOAs should be hired. We just have ro provide value for our work.

We're reasonably priced!

Or hire a real VOA to do it. We're not all that expensive and we, you know, are real humans.

Ripping off the people who do work for you isn't a great way to get good people to work for you. Identity theft is still theft, you're still a thief if you do it.
