It’s a fascinating study! As an actor Shakespeare can be daunting until you realise his lines are full of these ‘clues’. He’s telling you what’s going on in the character’s mind by the way they talk!

Anapest
Trochee

(Shakespeare uses these to ‘break’ the regular rhythm, which often gives a clue to the character’s state of mind).

Then three types of ‘foot’ (a ‘foot’ is a poetical pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables):

Iamb (Shakespeare’s usual ’metre’ - or pattern - from which we get ‘iambic pentameter’)

The terminology is all to do with the rhythm of the verse (in poetical terminology, this is called ‘Scansion’). I won’t go into detailed definitions, but the words he uses are:
