Yawn. The only thing that is ridiculous is how desperately you're trying to diminish the standardization efforts and instead make it solely a genius and foresighted idea from Apple. And we all know how "advanced" Apple has become in past 10 years. Spoiler, I like my iPhone and iPad dearly, but c'mon

No, 2024 was a deadline to put this mandate into local law by the countries. The EU parliament approved it already in 2022. And I'm not sure for how long you're around to understand law making, but this kind of law doesn't fall from the blue sky over night. Apple knew it was coming and acted.

Appreciate your effort to make Apple look good, but your response isn't entirely correct either. Yes, the mandate imposed by the EU was put into effect by 2022, and the iPad pro had USB-C already, but not the iPhone. That came only with the iPhone 15 in 2023, and depending on the iPhone model...
