A Street Cup is an interesting choice for a deer who rides. I really would have imagined woodland creatures going with an ADV style.

“She didn’t bark. She didn’t need to. When Quigley stops walking, you pay attention. And that night, she froze.”
“Something was coming. Something ugly. And like most things in this town… it started with a body.”
[Cue title: “The Mist on 77th”]

That’s where I saw her. Not the dame… the dog. Quigley. Seventy pounds of muscle, midnight fur, and the kind of eyes that make you wish you’d lived better.”

“I was two hours deep into a case I didn’t want and three fingers down a bourbon I couldn’t afford. The corner of 77th and Central Park West was lit up like a crime scene… shadows dancing in the mist, streetlight halos casting ghosts on the Museum walls.

[NARRATION – Low, gravelly voice over city ambience, faint jazz in the background]
“New York never sleeps. It just hides in the shadows when no one’s lookin’. And on nights like this — when the steam rises thick and slow from the belly of the city — it remembers. It remembers everything.”

I saw your post and had to share this photo of where I stood last night waiting to cross: a banner on the streetlight shows Robert Caro’s face in an advertisement for the Power Broker’s 50 year anniversary exhibit at the New York Historical Society.

Riding at speed through a pedestrian filled crosswalk against the light? “But I’m not a car!!!!” Looking 90 degrees off from your direction of travel? “But I’m a tourist seeing the city!!!”

My loathing for these things grows by the day, especially as the weather turns nicer. They destroy urban life, as it seems that the worst people are disproportionately drawn to them. Going 25 mph down the sidewalk? “But I’m biking!!!!”

I think I saw your bike when dropping mine off today.
