There is. I often find that women who write love it because Jo taught us from a young age that (1) you don't have to marry who everyone tells you to marry and (2) you can write to your heart's content. Wonderful lessons I have carried since I first read the book more than half a century ago.

It was the first book I ever read with an explicit sex scene. I remember being SO shocked (I was still pretty young...) 😆
