In my experience, Republican Members of Congress don't often respond to calls from their constituents. (They only care about those with the deep pockets).

We must commit to always doing good and what is right, even if our present political climate makes it seem out of fashion. We are in the midst of a great struggle, but a struggle which we will overcome. Remember: none of us is as strong as all of us when we are united.

In times like these, it is especially important that we be there for each other; that we offer safe harbor to our friends of color, to our LGBT friends, to our friends from beyond our borders; to the most vulnerable among us.

We also need to teach them the importance of continously learning and growing their education. Sadly, our society has become so anti-intellectual that it actually glorifies ignorance (which is just so depressing).

What we desparately need is to teach kids how to think critically (i.e., how to evaluate whether statements are facts or just opinions, how to verify the validity of supposed factual statements, how to discern objective news from propaganda, etc.).

Now, if they had employed a reputable fact-checker on the level of Snopes or Politifact, I might feel differently. Tech Bro-controlled fact-checking, though, will always be prone to issues.

At some point, I am finally going to have to come to grips with the inexorable and increasingly rapid flow of time. All those amazing moments from our past that we may sometimes long to re-live aren’t gone.

I’m old enough to remember how big a deal it was hitting the year 2000. I’m just having temporal anxiety over the fact that a quarter of a century has elapsed since then. It feels like it flew by.
