Brutal and blisteringly fast death metal that draws hard from Cryptopsy. Love the space-y soaring solos that cut through the chaos for a bit of a breather in between it all

Revisiting the discography of one of my favorite doom bands in the last 15 years. Masters of using the eeriness of the genre to explore the disturbing abusive practices of the Finnish Christian sect Kartanoism with impeccable atmosphere. +Points for a haunting cover of Joy Division's The Eternal

Revisiting this masterpiece. Released over 4 years ago and still so refreshing and unique. The eerie deathrock-like tone on the guitars cutting through cavernous atmosphere creates such a dark almost psychedelic atmosphere

Been really enjoying this Vacuous album. Pummeling riffs with brooding atmospheric moments that give this album a stranger edge than their debut. Not using their logo on this cover is a crime though.

Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii was a fun turn-off-your-brain breather in the series. Great combat makes up for the filler packed story. The post credits scene makes sure to give you some solid emotion that ties back to Infinite Wealth. 7/10 How can you not love Majima?

My favorite releases of 2024. It's been such a great year for music that for the first time I don't have one clear outlier AOTY album. Instead I placed the releases I've felt particularly strongly about for different reasons in the top 5. Here's for riffs, soaring melodies, and feels.
