This isn’t about politics. It’s about whose pain we believe, whose power gets protected, and whether we’ve learned anything from our history. Twisting that history to cover for abuse in the present isn’t justice. It’s cowardice.

It makes me sick that they would use the obviously racist smear campaign against MLK, the SCLC, and the Poor People’s Campaign to try to deflect attention now that people are asking for truth and accountability in the Epstein case.

But Epstein? He wasn’t hunted down, he was shielded. Protected by wealth, power, and connections. Survivors had to fight for years just to be heard.

The FBI had every motive to target King. He was a Black man preaching liberation in a country built on white supremacy. He was organizing poor people across racial lines. He was demanding systemic change. That scared the hell out of people in power.

If and when the Epstein list drops and a name like Trump’s is on it, some folks will be ready to say,
“Well the FBI lied about King and the SCLC. Maybe they’re lying now too.” Or worse, “If y’all can still admire MLK, why are you coming after Trump?”

But that logic doesn’t hold.

And now, suddenly, those same discredited files are being resurfaced right when the public is demanding transparency around Epstein’s client list.

It’s hard not to see the pattern.

The FBI wasn’t just watching. They were actively working to discredit the movement. They used lies, manipulation, and fear to try and turn public opinion. They wanted folks to see MLK not as a pastor or a peacemaker, but as a threat to America.
July 22, 2025 at 12:49 PM
They tried to paint these nonviolent, faith-rooted movements as dangerous and violent. As if the real threat wasn’t racism or poverty, but the people organizing to confront them.

We’ve known for years that the FBI tried to take down Dr. King. This wasn’t just about him personally, it was about the movement. They targeted the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the Poor People’s Campaign too.
