Cool thing I did recently = birdwatching in Portugal.

We saw loads of pink flamingos! AND spoonbills, which had been on my list for a long time. The Iberian azure-winged magpies were lovely, too.

Soup celery! Key ingredient in Ulster veg soup. Bought a few plants of it three years ago. Saved seeds and they came up even better than the original plants.

A swede from the garden! Decent size on this one. We've eaten half already - rest will go with dinner on Friday night.

Had a little break in Portugal last week and saw one of the best sunsets - if not THE best - I've ever seen.

Some photos from my most recent visit (in May). It really is something I miss about London! Though we do have a great canal walk in Belfast, too. Goes all the way to Lisburn. I've seen kingfishers on it many times.

Love the September spiders. There are loads this year!

Well this was trickier than it seems because in the process I found the drain below was blocked! It actually still needs some work at that end but I've put the rest together. Definitely an improvement overall.

Today's job is replacing this frankly apocalyptic guttering on our garage...

I have some! Here are four of them. But I have to say I generally prefer putting on a really good LP...
