hardmaru got banned from bsky because he didn't believe someone who claimed that there's a sentence that, if you write it here, you get insta-banned. So he tried it, to prove it's not true.

Turns out the claim was right.

It's a ban that happens even with all moderation filters disabled.
turned off all the @moderation.bsky.app filters and I still can't view bsky.app/profile/hard... 's posts bc he got flagged doing a test. what's the point of algorithmic choice if ultimately a "moderation team" gets to decide what i see @support.bsky.team ?

i would go so far as to argue that it’s not the “price” of open protocols, but the *point*. the entire reason to have a decentralized protocol where data is made public so that anyone can access is that…data is made public, and anyone can access it.

you may not like it, but the price of open protocols is having your shit scraped. i've had blog posts i put months into scraped from my website and rehosted with ads by SEO bots for years. there's nothing you can do. best to get used to it.

A librarian that previously worked at the British Library created a relatively small dataset of bsky posts, hundreds of times smaller than previous researchers, to help folks create toxicity filters and stuff.

So people bullied him & posted death threats.

He took it down.

Nice one, folks.

Scrum is a cancer.

I've been writing software since 1994, and nothing kills a software team faster than Scrum does.

Scrum was brought to software by mediocre managers who wanted to feel in control.

And unfortunately, it has become a cult that makes you feel dumb every time you question it.
