Realizing that my apathy to most new tech (esp. wearables) shows how corporate greed and algorithmic hegemony has destroyed my juvenile love of all things tech. It used to feel so EXCITING. Now all I get is ick. I didn't grow out of it. Corporations ruined it.

I lived through it but was young so didn't have any language for it at the time. Taking a sociology class as an undergrad, I needed a research paper topic and came across the Satantic panic in the library. I loved that project, especially because I came across artifacts like this: a children's guide

I love that Anika always plays Memphis. I was fortunate enough to see her perform when I lived just south of Memphis in Mississippi. Y'all are so lucky to have her swing through on her tours!

Spun a little DJ set yesterday on Twitch -- up on Mixcloud now. I took quite a journey: started with some EBM and industrial rock, moved into a bit of post-punk, a brief ambient interlude, and then onto some minimal wave and synth-pop. I even worked in some Anika! www.mixcloud.com/luct_melod/f...

I played the DAW mix through an old mixer, recorded the output, and then mixed the two versions together for the final mix.

The Nashville Electronic Music and Synthesizer group was a really fun group of folks I connected with while I briefly lived in Nashville. Great meet-ups to play with gear and a few great VAs organized by the leadership. (Somebody showed off this great Polivoks)

I was radicalized at an early age by protest music. Electronic and industrial music seeped into my consciousness like all good truth-telling does: by exposing me to critiques of the status quo and making me feel less alone in a world that didn't reflect my nascent values.
