Have you ever started reading something and realized that you'd be changed, for the better, on completion? And had to pause, because this reading journey ought to begin with some fanfare? That's my experience starting George Sauders' A Swim in a Pond in the Rain.

I proudly can say that I did not vote for the Felon nor a hostile takeover

I voted for diversity, equity, and inclusion

I voted for you, me, and my family

I voted for a better America

Is it wrong that I simply avoided or quickly scrolled past every item mentioning that interview with the next president? All I know is that there was an interview.

But why would I spend any time thinking about or commenting on anything he says? We know it’s a lie, a grift, or about to change.

Hey “journalists”—you need to focus on NEWS. Will senators confirm Patel, Gabbard, Hegseth, RFK jr? Will the House release the Gaetz report? And how did S Korea descend so quickly and can it happen here? Oh, and will Trump invade Canada? Can Musk pass a basic security level? Lots to focus on.

The disconnect between traditional media and regular folks on social media regarding the pardoning of Hunter reveals everything MSNBC/CNN/etc needs to know about the democratic base. We are here for Uncle Joe. We stand with Hunter.

In my villain era: fighting on Facebook with quilters who don’t know quilting is inherently political and with Shih Tzu owners who are feeding their dogs raw milk. Know your history and know your science. Side note: make yourself sick, but I draw the line at Shih Tzus.

We can agree that bird app is dumpster fire. However, I’m very much enjoying Threads. Bluesky folks picking on Threads is a little like the debate nerds bullying the robotics team. We all have a place and some of us like to cross over.

Didn’t have “Road Rules Contestant Leads Dept of Transportation” on my Bingo card. Need a new one, but I think it needs to be created by Dali, Hunter S Thompson, and my dog.

Homer Wells. Named because he kept running away from all of his previous fosters. I wanted to make sure he knew he was a Prince in this home.

Feels like I'm just posting to the void since I'm just getting started here, but why not. I write a weekly newsletter, and this week I write about how far away from reading and critical thinking we’ve come. It's lacking in our education, COVID learning loss, social media attention spans, all of it.
We need to get back to reading and critical thinking
Because 2024 feels different from 2016.

A majority of pro-book ban school board candidates lost in Texas, but education advocates are worried about other election results.
