Ancient; ungrumpy; intrigued by how culture changes within a lifetime. Appalled by aspects of the legacy my generation is leaving for our grandchildren; content with other aspects. Bridge. Gadgetry. Puzzles.
Not many posts about the orange evil these days are novel. Well done, Abby!

I am appalled. I had no idea the UK was one of those dire countries pressuring the court. Cameron is no longer in office; but mind you, I don't trust the current incumbent not to do the same.

From abroad, it's so easy to see the US as a country of idiots who voted badly and are getting what they deserve. These images and descriptions of brave people putting themselves out to stand up against the evil counter that lazy image really effectively. Kudos to you all. And Victory.

As long as you always tell us the extent of AI's involvement, I'm all for this additional means of exercising creativity. It's the folk who just place AI products on display without mentioning how they were created that I object to. This pair of images is nice whimsey.

Zack is a splendid face and heart for the Greens. I have been trying to locate the weight the Green Party carries behind him. Yes, many leaflet-deliverers, but I don't see the team of heavyweight thinkers who can articulate things in terms the Bank of England, IMF, savage media etc must respect.

When Margaret Thatcher moved to accelerate the greed culture in the UK, one of her first missions was to demolish the unions, in which she was pretty successful. When we need to this model out under the coming Farage government, we won't have the union strength you do, alas.

And just think what soulless glop you'd get from an AI prompted to generate that scene. Thank you for keeping things real, Brad!

This is not a problem. When he becomes UK Prime Minister he can change the rules, or just do a Trump and ignore them.

If it helps any, Chicken, posts like yours cheer up my day. Than you. Maybe you can find a little glow of satisfaction inside on account of your good work done?

See you there, Angelcakez.

To me this is great news. OK, OK, a government is in ultimate control of a social media outlet, but compared to a crazed South African or any US corporation that seems a slim worry.

My heart goes out to the decent people of the US who have this in their nostrils. A fish rots from the head, and your nation has a heck of a head now. If you believe in the polls, you'll expect the UK to join you in a bit less than four years, so often the poodle at the USA's heel.

Lovely photo - thank you Ruth. Hope you are feeling less stressed today.

Very true. My blunder, going just for the content and forgetting all about the form, which just happened to be pretty central to your theme!

ChatGPT told me: "Ah, in this context, a Tui is a bird native to New Zealand. It’s known for its glossy black feathers with a metallic green and blue sheen and the distinctive white tuft at its throat." And more. I hope the Tui relieved some of your stress, Ruth.

It does have that feel of a truly-held belief being expressed, so it is right for GPEW to claim it.

I probably shouldn't say this while there's a bookshop in earshot, but there is a PDF of this title on the Internet Archive, dn720004.ca.archive.org/0/items/scum...

If LibDEms get one boo!, surely Reform must have a dozen or two?

Kudos for being forward-looking, and using the time effectively. I know it's hard for politicians, who have a lot invested in the status quo, but in Europe we have wasted those 9 years, acting as though this is just a nightmare and it will all be fine when dawn comes.
January 21, 2026 at 1:53 PM
True, Nicholas, but from the UK perspective there's a gradation between prime minister Starmer who seems to do it because he sees advantage for the nation and Farage who does it because, as The Trawl podcast would put it, he is a bellend.

It's you Brad. If you don't look threatening, they won't scowl. But they look at you and they feel safe to relax, open up and do just what people usually want to do in that state - smile! So, good work, sir; and please keep at it.

I yearn for the resurgence of Trix. Alas, no video game or TikTok channel based on it, so no youngster would dream of touching it.
