Absolutely horrible trade for the O’s.
November 19, 2025 at 2:59 PM
The O’s already had plenty of bad contact hitting, bad defenders. They lack quality starting pitching. Even if G-Rod was a 3.5 ERA, 120-140 innings guy going forward, that’s pretty valuable. Unless his arm is toast, this is an inexcusable trade.

He would immediately be the Rangers’ second or third best D if that sample even remotely holds. Good sign.

Unless Sullivan trusts Rempe with more minutes and Rempe’s level of play makes a leap, I don’t see why he makes the lineup. I agree that there are a lot of bodies and not enough spots.

I am well documented in pointing out how incompetent I think Drury is, but wow he did well in this trade. He should just be a trade specialist.
It’s the one aspect of being a GM that he’s actually good at. Every other aspect he’s absolutely horrible at.

Terrible signing. If you look at his xG or other advanced stats, the kings were worse with him on the ice. I don’t get why people think he’s good. His absolute ceiling is mediocre, which doesn’t mean $7 mill/year.
July 1, 2025 at 4:59 PM
Terrible signing, but at least it wasn’t $10 mill aav?
July 1, 2025 at 4:53 PM
That’s an absolutely terrible contract for a player who was awful when not in the Kings system, and was below average in that.
July 1, 2025 at 3:47 PM
He shouldn’t be, but yep that’s his plan. I agree that building around a player who will turn 33 this season is a “win now” move that doesn’t match up with giving up the 2025 first rounder. The Rangers need a better GM with a coherent plan. IMHO all his mistakes mean “win now” (cup) is out.
June 28, 2025 at 11:39 AM
I’m less sure on that due to the awful set of defensemen and significant questions among the forwards. I think their ceiling for next year is a bottom half seed for the playoffs, not cup contenders. Hopefully I’m wrong though.
June 27, 2025 at 9:49 PM
Yeah, not taking the first pick this year is encouraging to me because it’s an acknowledgement that the roster is more like 10 moves away than 1-2. I don’t think Drury can execute the fixes, but it’s nice to know he may have correctly analyzed the state of things.
June 27, 2025 at 9:32 PM
Here’s what’s worse: he was a flat out bad player before LA, and has been a below average player compared to his LA teammates. Best case, Borgen level ceiling of mediocrity.
June 25, 2025 at 1:40 PM
I’m mainly surprised Drury is making the right move.
June 24, 2025 at 5:45 PM
I’m honestly surprised that Drury made what I think is the right move.
June 24, 2025 at 5:25 PM
Selling low, nice job Drury.
June 13, 2025 at 5:08 AM
I would have preferred the end of the Drury era.
June 13, 2025 at 5:04 AM
Terrible trade.
June 12, 2025 at 5:08 PM
It’s an awful trade, full stop. I guess we will see what Drury does with the cap space.
June 12, 2025 at 3:28 PM
100% agree. This is a terrible and unnecessary trade.
June 12, 2025 at 3:26 PM
Awful trade.
June 12, 2025 at 3:20 PM
If these are the trade terms, it’s just a bad trade imho. Yes, it depends some on the cap space used and whether Kreider is healthy next year. The paltry return makes me like the Ducks side of the trade risk far more.
June 11, 2025 at 6:47 PM
Good luck to Kreider. I don’t agree that it was clearly time. We will see how this fits in Drury’s overall plan.
June 11, 2025 at 12:18 PM
If they get Robertson, isn’t that obviously way better than Cuylle? It depends on the other pieces, but Cuylle should not be untouchable. I’d try and throw in Panarin myself since his contract is expiring and it could help the cap situation.
June 10, 2025 at 4:38 PM
I don’t see a clear and coherent plan yet. I hope Drury does some good work this summer. The roster needs to get younger, but that probably means not making a big push this year. Given the state of things this past year, that’s probably the wise course.
