I do not currently have many military personnel in my circle, but I had a lot of vets, some of whom were also guards, in my office when I was a Fed.

The National Guard are not the same as active duty career military. I believe they will come to dislike this form of duty, but at the moment it is easier for them to assume it's a passing aberration.
