Went to the Port El Callao in Lima and visited some old houses but also the pretty rough beach where I used to swim . Rocky and full of currents. My favourite. Found also old heavy fisherman’s boats. This area was mostly settled by Italians. 🥰🥹

Today we visited the oldest house of the Americas. Belonging to the Aliaga family since its construction in 1535 in the main square in Lima. Amazingly it has survived earthquakes, wars and terrorism. Extremely well kept. Gorgeous 🥰♥️

Last night we went to the #1 Nikkei restaurant in Lima. Hibrid of Peruvian and Japanese food. A wonderful experience. Not sure if I could pick my favourite as it was 💯 seafood and extremely fresh and properly served. Presentation was a work of art @chefericfeltman.bsky.social

Finally got around to take pics of daily delicious fish dishes in Peru. This “picantería “ had a mountain of fresh fish on ice to choose from. After you choose yours, they do it 3 ways (bbq, ceviche, steamed for us). And then a clear fish broth .

Visiting my childhood landmarks in Lima. This Olive Garden was planted shortly after the foundation of Lima in 1535 by Jesuit priests. Olives are still delicious. 🤤

I did my quiche/pie with phyllo pastry. Filling similar to yours but broccoli in mine. Not lots of cheese because of my lactose deficiency. I used skyr too. As always, my presentation is sadly lacking. 🍽️🍜

I did these seeded cookies (just seeds, honey and an egg). Then coated one side with bittersweet chocolate. Really healthy 😁. 🍽️🍜

They made me wait until October and then they exploded in blooms. They are around the ramp to the deck where my husband used to sit in his wheelchair and enjoy his flowers and birds. 😢 I am no green thumb but gotta keep his garden where he spent so many years marveling at his beauties.

Yesterday I had done a beautiful chicken stock with a whole chicken, ginger and green onions (green part). So today I had chicken noodle soup and chicken salad with cornichons. I love strong tasting black olives from Peru in my soup (aceitunas de botija). Any of you put black olives in your soup?
