@caelan.bsky.social Re: legacy of Tom of Finland, it was interesting hear what the foundation is doing, as opposed to the huge exhibit of his work that just finished in Finland. His name alone is excellent branding for a country that did away with forced sterilization for trans people a year ago.

So I have been put on a divine mission to convince people that Finland sucks. I just had a job interview that went great, other than a tiny little thing they mentioned in passing: their training data is labeled by incarcerated people.

Society has quietly admitted that positive eugenics is totally cool. Ask a doctor about birth control options as a young white student, an immigrant POC with kids, or while incarcerated. The recommended options will likely prioritize preserving fertility regardless of your priorities in 1/3.

Having lived in more "Eastern" and "Southern" countries for a decade, where *for some reason* everything is assumed to be worse, especially infrastructure, I never experienced more than a brief power outage. Here hours-long ones are so common they have an app for tracking them.

1. "Libertarian" can mean a lot of things
2. Criticism of the State is far more common from the right in the mainstream
3. I do think local culture and language are under threat, just not by immigrants

It is not responsible coverage when the photo illustration might as well be an ad for a Nazi MMA gym, a decades old problem known to anyone even a little antifascist and involved in combat sports. I don't have a subscription to read this, and neither will the new recruits this will attract.
This one is bigger and I haven't found a frame for it yet, but it is a whimsical reminder to keep it down and not disturb neighbors.

I have a sweater from the 70's/80's in storage, and literally has a patch on the chest showing it's unisex. Made in Eastern Europe. This is not frivolous, considering the direction they're going in, and are allowed to go in. Very likely you haven't heard of this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Br...

Some more Tradition I wish we'd Retvrn to. Especially the flares, because a small difference (or ok, not that small) in how a fabric is cut and sewn together from the usual for your perceived gender is can be really tough on some unfortunate people.

TurningPoint USA wanted attendees of their Young Women's Leadership Summit to dress in 70-inspired clothing, and I was disappointed to learn that their reference point was the degenerate celebrities of Studio 54 and not the unisex fashion worn by my parents when they first met (and still married).

On a practical level it often feels like outside certain local communities, trans visibility was a mistake. Just bad opsec.

I was hoping to find some fellow anarchists among the transes, for Christ's sake the state stopped wanting us sterilized less than a year ago! Though I'm pretty sure I planted the seed of radicalization in at least one person.
