Some days I love my job. I love my kids and my clinical team. But some days I hate my job. Like seriously hate it, therapy is not seen as a priority and some staff (and foster parents) treat me like a glorified babysitter. Rage!!!

How’s work, you ask? I still love my job but I need a day off 😂 My morning was met by parents texting me asking if transportation was coming to take their foster kids to group therapy. I don’t know! It’s not my group therapy and I’m not transportation!

You gotta love colleges- it's like they forget that people actually work in the summer. I have to take work off for Cinn's orientation. I have to then take days off in August for her move in...like why are we having two different dates?

I did, sadly, get my first case with a really fucked up situation involving possible sex trafficking of minors. It's all allegations, but idk, when a kid tries to commit suicide over something like that, there's definitely something really wrong there.

That said, I've seen some pretty horrific cases. Kiddo in the system who had a fractured skull at 1 month old (much older now). Lots of cases of neglect, lots of dads in jail, lots of domestic violence, a lot of drugs. It's sometimes very tiring and hard.

One of the things about my job I'm noticing is the ups and down can be extreme at time. Bad days happen, good days happen, though the good days outshine the bad. The key seems to be not to get discouraged, have patience, know when to not care (and this is more for birth parents and foster parents)

Man, sometimes these foster parents piss me off. Honey, we are paying your ass to take care of these kids and it’s YOUR job to get them to therapy. And stop being so damn rude. I’m trying to help these kids.

Very tired. MCR was wonderful, but playing catch up at work (and energy) has me feeling frustrated and low. I know it will pass, but it is definitely tough. Current events don't help, it feels soul sucking...

So work. Can't say too much, of course. But this week involved: dealing with a foster mom who didn't want to do her job (getting kids to appointments with me), a birth mom who just doesn't seem to care at all, a foster mom that is super awesome and doing everything she can to help her foster kid,

As democracy falls, I think to myself, detached to reality...I miss using my hobonichi cousin. I got the A6 not knowing I'd actually get a job. Now I have to wait till next year. 😂

The thing that’s going to drive me the most crazy at this job is the no shows. Like argh- I’m staying late today to meet an emergency session that I could not fit in but could’ve had someone just called and let me know they weren’t going to show up 😡
