I found this leak really exciting, there are a lot of documents as well so I am going to keep looking at it and see what else there is here. If I find anything else I will let you know!

The study lasted 379 days and used lots of different advanced equipment such as Underwater Gliders, Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Buoy Systems. The slide claims this was the largest-scale experiment of its type conducted in China .

Another photo I saw made me curious so I used ChatGPT to explain it to me. It shows a large scale observation networking experiment (观测组网实验)completed by the Joint Laboratory using a variety of marine systems equipment, satellites etc to study the South China Sea.

There is a timeline in the image below from a ‘Marine High-End Equipment Joint Laboratory’ (海洋高端装备联合实验室) (which talks about the development of a submersible that can allegedly go 10,000 meters deep. The project started in 2019 and sea trial acceptance testing in 2021.

The second photo I thought was interesting appears to be from a signing ceremony for strategic cooperation (战略合作) between the then QNLM and Wuhan University of Technology (武汉理工大学) .

in 2022 they created a statute called the Civil-Military Fusion Development Law (CMFDL) that formalized a set of obligations for all entities to assist with military plans.

Laboratories like Laoshan research and design what is called dual-use tech which means it can be used by civilians and the military for different purposes. This mix of civil and military work is clearly a big focus for China.
November 14, 2025 at 1:20 PM
China formally wrote the Civil-Military Fusion (CMF) strategy in 2015. This was made to remove barriers between the military and civilian researchers to make a better defense industry.

I also examined the red banner in the background and the top line seems to show QNLM (from the characters 与技术国家实验室 being exactly the second part of QNLM’s name) working with the characters “海军潜” which indicates the PLA Navy submarine or submersible (something!)
November 14, 2025 at 1:20 PM
It appears the lab has worked with the Chinese Military (PLA) as you can see in the photo below. Looking at the photo, we have a civilian and a uniformed officer holding a sign indicating that QNLM is now part of a Joint Laboratory for Marine Civil-Military Integration (海洋 军民融合联合实验室) .
November 14, 2025 at 1:20 PM
And the files and images are calling it QNLM which stands for Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology 青岛海洋科学与技术国家实验室. Searching the lab on Baidu tells me QNLM is what the lab was called when it was first opened in 2000 and then it changed its name to Laoshan Laboratory in 2022
November 14, 2025 at 1:20 PM
I did some research on this lab and it focuses on developing technology for marine exploration and research. The lab seems to have used a few names which is confusing, the original post is calling it Laoshan National Laboratory.

Leakbase has been really fun to investigate, and I’m sure there’s loads more on here so I am definitely going to keep an eye on this one. Let’s see where we end up next on my investigations! #China #Crime #Data

The size of these Chinese data leaks is incredible, the volume of data making its way out of China onto places like Leakbase and Darkforums is fascinating. I’m curious how this data is obtained, is it Chinese citizens selling it to outsiders? #China #Crime #Data

Another huge dataset is the user data for China Union Pay, one of China’s largest payment providers and a state-owned financial services corporation. A million lines of data have been leaked, which makes you wonder how this data was obtained. #China #Crime #Data

Another staggeringly large dataset is from Weibo, a Chinese social media App where over 538 million rows of data are available displaying mobile numbers and Weibo IDs. If the dataset is legit, this is really significant. #China #Crime #Data

I started digging into the China and Japan databases and there are some really intriguing posts on there. One user is offering a Chinese database with 6 million rows of data about Household registration. #China #Crime #Data

What’s also interesting about Leakbase that DarkForums doesn’t have is a section dedicated to China/Japan. I’m curious about this, it may just be because there are so many data leaks about China/Japan that it gets its own category. #China #Crime #Data

What sets Leakbase apart from other online resources I’ve discussed so far? Well, I think that the main difference between Leakbase and DarkForums is that Leakbase is much more focused on the data, whilst DarkForums is more community based. #China #Crime #Data

Leakbase is pretty similar to DarkForums, they both offer users access to a wide variety of leaked databases that include content ranging from government citizen information to private company customer data. #China #Crime #Data

Enter Leakbase! I came across this site after browsing some forums on Reddit, and it seems to be pretty popular online. It’s pretty easy to access, as it’s on the clearweb so I didn’t need to get into any Telegram groups or find it on the dark web. #China #Crime #Data

It was really interesting exploring DarkForums, seeing all the different types of data available. I think I'm going to explore the darkweb more in future - Excited to see what I find next on my investigations!
