@yorkshiretea.bsky.social can you please do a partnership with the UK pavilion at the Climate COP next year? Had to bring my own teabags - would be really cool given the impacts of #climate on tea production.

Made it to #COP30 excited to be helping the pearl @uniofreading.bsky.social with their COPCAS studio and attending events or colleagues and collaborators.
Be great to connect - if you have recommendations please let me know! Also so happy to help with anything.

Was stubbornly optimistic at the BBC's #climatecreatives 2025 with @rgsibg.bsky.social. I learnt so much about storytelling and changing narratives. And that the @nhm.org has a pond! Which I'm interested in for urban cooling research. Met so many interesting people.

📢 Just had the most amazing experience communicating heat and compound hazards impacts on BBC breakfast. Thank you to @richardabetts.bsky.social for suggesting me and everyone at the BBC who were so lovely!

I did an interview with @skynewsrss.bsky.social this morning on the likelihood of the driest and sunniest summer on record. Then I listed impacts - this combo really affects food systems! Beyond summer. Like the potato. Which is important because personally I like food.

A clip from BBC 5 live ended up on @bbcradio2bot.bsky.social news at 8pm (thanks to @simonleewx.com for the spot). And then my brain clocked with the world service - I told millions of people about heatwaves 😅. I was a kid who made fake radio shows so a nice overlap moment 😊.

Busy day talking about all sorts of things. Thank you to BBC 5-live and BBC news for having me talk about heat, drought and wildfires.

I want to mention the below on the BBC world service on water and energy usage of data centers: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Thunderstorms mid-heatwave - there's this band on the radar in the South West. I don't remember in the UK - like in central Europe common.

🚒 Heat, Wildfire, Drought - Summer 2025. We've seen the worst wildfire since 1949 this past week in France. I spoke to @skynewsrss.bsky.social about the impacts of individual hazards and combined ahead of the 4th UK heatwave.

My dream is a heat docu series and book 😁!?

3 years ago today I submitted my PhD thesis. I was lucky at the time I had my dream job lined up. Fast-forward now with lots of flip-flops, I am taking a year out of academia to decide what I want to do, at @rmets.org in a diverse cover. If you have any advice, please share.

🥵 It's a #heatwave ... A tropical heatwave. Been a busy day today discussing the heatwave (also drought and wildfires) in the UK and Europe. I spoke about the impacts of mostly the heatwaves but also explaining compound hazards. Thanks to BBC 5 live, LBC news, France 24 and Sky news. #scicomm

🌦️🌂 Had a fantastic first week of my new job, helping out with the @rmets.org early career and student and annual weather and climate conferences in Manchester Metropolitan, Dalton Building. Hope to see everyone and new faces next year!

📜 Reached a personal publishing goal today of h-index 10 and h-index10 at 10, a year earlier than I thought! Which was unexpected.

@rmets.org day 3 of the early career and student conference and annual weather and climate. And my third day working for them! Been super great so far. Amazing research and cake! Even won a mug. 😊 Looking forward to the next 2 days.

Got this lovely comment on my LinkedIn yesterday. Another day today started off talking to @bbc5live.bsky.social about the European heatwaves, what people get confused about and how prepared the UK is! Still "Woefully unprepared!"

😎 #heatwave in Europe. I just spoke to BBC news about linking heat to #climatechange and the pressure on aspects of society. The presenter said I was very clear and thanked me for my expertise! Which was very nice of them ☺️. So important to communicate! #scicomm

The meme is back. Also, seen some new content this year. Lots of moaning as well. Interesting to see the response.

4️⃣ Develop boundaries, but be open to learning.
As you might be able to tell, I'm a really open person.
Not everyone deserves to know everything about you, sometimes it will be used against you. But, this doesn't mean you should isolate yourself and build big walls.
June 15, 2025 at 7:04 PM
3️⃣ Be proud to be yourself. We are all unique and have something to give.
This doesn't mean you shouldn't learn and grow though! And you'll sometimes not be proud of how you've acted. I've honestly done things in my 20s I never thought I would do.
June 15, 2025 at 7:04 PM
2️⃣ People will surprise you. In good and more bad ways and that's ok.
I apparently seem to know or am known by a lot of people, which is so cool and I am grateful to know so many amazing people.
June 15, 2025 at 7:04 PM
1️⃣ It's normal and okay to make mistakes.
I, eare on the side of perfectionism and so I find it hard when I make what I would consider mistakes. I am also somewhat indecisive about big choices. But, part of being human is making them! We all do it.

🌡️New Publication led by Alexandra Czerniewska on maternal, newborn and child health in #heathealth adaptation plans.

🌡️"informing, education, and awareness raising" (77%) was the focus of most plans. But monitoring mechanism fall short. We suggest the development of an operational framework.

🏔️BBC Radio 5 Live interview about the glacier collapse in Blatten Switzerland. And what we can say about #ClimateChange - we cannot tie individual events (without climate event attribution but even then there is uncertainty) but alpine hanging valley glaciers are in decline. #scicomm
