"AfD advances in the poorest parts of the west (FT)" -- I see this framing a lot, and I just don't get it. AFAICS, the AfD's list vote in wide swathes of (as far as I know, affluent?) Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria is comparable to, if not higher than, its vote in the Ruhr?

My impression is it varies within Germany too. Terrible in NRW. Have rarely been on a DB train that was delayed less than 30 mins in the last five years. Sign boards like this a routine experience in Köln. Have heard it’s better near Berlin…
