I think I became an Eagles fan because I knew Americans who were, plus it's fun to yell "go birds" and I like watching the riots when they win.
Most other Canadians I know seem to be Bills fans; I think it's because of proximity to Toronto and Canadians being used to having to cheer for the Jays
