A lot of them are marinated in years, decades even, of racist and xenophobic rhetoric and media that only encourages fear and paranoia of anyone they don't immediately recognize. Taught to believe everyone unfamiliar could be planning to get them in some way.

Learning they're a ghost kitchen explained a lot. I'm in Texas, and they tasted just like Whataburger when I decided to use a coupon to order it. Was like twice the price though, so even the best MrBeast Burger you're better off ordering from the place they haunt.
