Season 3 of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is here. Some friends at the Trib came up with a bingo card for anyone who'd enjoy playing along as they watch (or at least get a chuckle from this handy list of minor spoilers and most predictable moments). www.reddit.com/r/SecretsOfM...

I can sympathize with the challenges Mormon missionaries face in Fargo, but there’s got to be a better way than this. www.inforum.com/news/fargo/b... C’mon.

July 31 – Joseph Smith: The Rise and Fall of an American Prophet is John G. Turner's latest book and he'll be giving this year's free Smith-Pettit lecture. Look for his upcoming AMA at r/AskHistorians. Collect bonus points for cajoling the author into personalizing your copy with a cryptic message.

Like a stone cut from the mountain, exmo humor has rolled forth and filled our exit journeys with lolz. Goodbye to an OG master of the craft. Whether it's Mormonism or Social Media, we celebrate those who make like a tree and leave. Thank you, little roots.

200 years ago, Alexis de Tocqueville feared Americans would become isolated in their individual pursuits and lose their concern for their fellows. He saw churches as part of the bulwark of civil society that guards against despotic government rule over “a flock of timid and hardworking animals.”

re Reddit and Mormonism (qua topic): Compared to other social channels, Reddit’s engagement stats are more opaque, typically only seen by posters and mods. Four screenshots showing “views” (lower left corner) to provide a sense of the reach available on that platform.

Through a Mormon lens, this trend can be viewed as a huge missed opportunity by the LDS leadership. What if Mormonism had spent the past few decades branding itself (and BYU) as all about great music, winning sports teams, and good clean fun? Instead of what they've been doing.
