One finds things when one is out looking, scanning and observing the skies. Over time abilities get better, it's invisible, tuned telescopes are almost magical. Finding things is luck for sure but it's not accidental.

Quality of deepseek engineering is commendable. Calling it a copy is naive or dishonest, irrespective of where one may stand in their affiliation. Stuff even outside the reasoning parts e.g. DualPipe(V) is class distributed systems work.

Engineering waste is not the biggest problem with most 100-engineer orgs, lack of product market fit is. If you can't get 100 geeks pointed in the same direction, roughly aligned with the rest of the company, you're already toast but the smoke alarm just hasn't beeped yet.
