"Alien" is actually a really fucked up word. It has a lot of negative connotations baked in. Here is the etymology from the OED. As you can see, it very much does not just mean "from another place," or "different."

Oh man, I'm really sorry about that. Cancer survivor here, and i fully appreciate what you are saying. I definitely tend towards, I dunno, not sadness, but wrestling with the suffering of the world. But there is another side to things, and it is very, very important to keep that perspective.
