The Little Skirtful of Stones on Burley Moor. An early Bronze Age burial cairn, sadly stripped of much of its original splendour. Legend says a local giant spilt some stones from her apron, hence the name. It's a common title for burial cairns across Yorkshire.

The Badger Stone - the mother of all carved rocks on Ilkley Moor. It has cups (95), rings, interlinked grooves and gutters - the whole shebang. Even has a partial swastika (not that one) - thought to be a symbol relating to the sun back in the Bronze Age.

Neolithic #rockart on Ilkley Moor with interlocking lines and cup marks. Crazy to think someone was on their knees scrapping away here 5,000 years ago. Across the beck is a late Bronze Age/early Iron Age hut circle and enclosure (2,500-2,800 years old).

For Blue Monday we can't think of anything more appropriate than this charming depiction of a man getting his face eaten off by a leopard.

The neolithic Map Stone up on an icy Ilkley Moor - so called because of its swirling lines linking cup and ring marks. Overcast, so the light doesn't really do it justice. Sketch from Adam Morgan Ibbotson's excellent book: Yorkshire's Prehistoric Monuments.
