sometimes you are not an individual until you make it clear that you are through action. and if your parents decide that it is a threat, then it is, and they are definitely not worth having around anymore.

the last time my dad decided to berate me post-move, i told him i didnt have to talk to him if i didnt want to anymore & i stopped talking to him for months after that. that was the first time ive ever gotten a genuine apology from him & his whole attitude changed

i will say it is also so much easier without pressure and it being paid for by the state. im just doing it for me and that feels very freeing
