Breaking cover to say that the Chilliteracy community is a fiendish collection of enablers and today Sam took receipt of the fanciest book he now owns, from Beehive Books: The Willows, by Algernon Blackwood.
It is *beautiful*

A kind of abstracted illustration in black and white of what looks like it might be a stormy night sky above an overgrown field, maybe? Like it looks as though it could be lightning and smoke, or maybe crackling magical energy? It looks rad, either way. A photo of the slipcover for the book, which shows in glossy black on matte black, a beautiful stark depiction of a willow tree above overgrown reeds. Much of this image is drawn with vertical strokes. A breathtaking (I literally gasped when I first saw this) photo of the book's actual cover, which is the colour version of the black-and-white image I tried describing two pictures ago. It shows swirling grey/blues and flashes of pink in grim, dark skies, a bank of black,silhouetted reeds along the bottom, and what appears to be a fire breaking out amongst them in the centre. The swirling colours above may be smoke emanating from it, or the cause of the fire.
