We have a skills shortage in the UK - apart from painting roundabouts and shouting at hotels, there’s a chunk of society that isn’t able to contribute economically to the country and is unfit to be employed but which also complains about immigrants taking “their jobs”

So I stopped buying it and am entertained by the begging for funding that it’s resorted to given it’s lost so much readership over the years.

I used to buy the Guardian 20 years ago for its balanced reporting (and the Observer on a Sunday) but slowly became disillusioned by the op-ed pieces that were increasingly snide and bitchy and uninformed.
