Peshmerga - “those who face death” - The term first became widely used in the early 20th century during Kurdish uprisings against Ottoman and British forces. It symbolized those willing to stand at the front lines, defending Kurdish lands and freedom even if it meant dying for it.

Sheikh Mahmud Barzinji (1881–1956) was a Kurdish nationalist leader who declared himself King of Kurdistan in 1922 after leading several uprisings against British rule in Iraq. A descendant of the influential Barzinji family of Sulaymaniyah, he sought Kurdish independence and unity. 2 + 2 =1 #Kurd

The Erbil Citadel which is located in the capital of the Kurdistan Region, it’s one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, dating back more than 6,000 years and still has inhabitants to this day.
