This writing retreat is has been unbelievable. There’s glamping and then there’s THIS

Watching my favorite youtube series, creekside in Maine, before I start to write for the day

My partner and I love to banter. But this morning (attached), he got me thinking—blaming AI is too easy. While researching my 2nd memoir, I realized “alternative facts” caused all this. AI can only automate discourse because we already expect it to be fake

Writing retreat in exactly one week…

My bluetooth keyboard of 10 years, given to me for free by a (defunct? 🤷‍♀️) Silicon Valley tech company, is being put out to pasture

You served me well, Arteck. But an F key is needed for future feverous inspiration!

When AI is asked to elaborate on a single word taken entirely out of context, it only writes about itself in a lowkey, positive way that's clearly supposed to come off to readers as neutral and nonbiased.

...It's already indistinguishable from a human, I'm afraid 😂

Not sure if any of you readers or writers are gamers too, but Expedition 33 is a literary text masked as a turn-based action game with the best dialogue, voice acting, and music I’ve ever seen in the medium

Play it, and we’ll discuss it in book club!

Three weeks ago, my book club started Anna Karenina. Since college, I’ve LOVED Russian lit, but always found it difficult to read alone

I’m only in part 2, but it is beyond readable. You don’t need a book club. And Tolstoy’s drama puts Bridgerton’s to shame 🫖

My book club just finished Parable of the Sower. I’m fully burnt out on dystopias with young yet overly mature main characters, but still enjoyed Lauren a lot! I loved how her high empathy made her so logical—a unique, believable contrast

What did you think?!

“You are never going to hear [why cut cancer research at Harvard] on popular media. Rational voices don’t generate outrage…” [for more ad views and 💵]

I never thought I’d be quoting someone named tornado_tax_anal (😂) for perfectly explaining my view since 2013

A gorgeous poem by one of my favorites, Anna Akhmatova

I wonder if, like with Russia and the mid-1900s, we’ll look back on the early 2000s and think, this was when US politics started censoring the voice and idealism of its literature

Finished White Noise for my bookclub yesterday. Part 1 is still my favorite, but I got a LOT more from part 3 this time that I missed on my first reading. And I found a new favorite paragraph!!!

I have 2 weeks to kill the final 130 pages of my favorite book White Noise for my book club. It’s hard to find time with tutoring and finishing the 3rd draft of my memoir

…But I am DYING to start this. If you haven’t heard the podcast, I 100% recommend it!!!

Resistance, even if futile, is typically better than silent despair. But when that dark dread has been orchestrated and isn’t your own—it’s >always< better

Please enjoy this original poem

My book club just started my favorite book, White Noise. Its rich atmosphere and loose plot let characters breathe and reveal new ideas on every reread. The BEST for discussion. I’m so excited!

What do you think? I know more people bounce off than fall in ☺️

Is there a deep state, or simply some States in deep shit?

Regarding the Canadian tariff increase today… enjoy the pic

I’m about halfway through and over the moon that this book may usurp Gabriel García Márquez’s Strange Pilgrims for my favorite collection of short stories of all time. Its characters are so relatable to me (😂☠️ #CPTSD)

What’s your opinion of Dubliners?!

My word of the day, year, and century: semblance

Trump is a semblance of a president, social media is a semblance of real connection, modern dating is one of respectful courtship, and my nuclear family, one of home and love

Add in some Sci-Fi twists for my 2nd novel's once-absurd, now stale plot!

OF COURSE today’s tutoring session requires me to study up on unification and nationalism. I can’t escape it, #fucktrump!!!

“[Nationalism] was a consciousness of belonging and of the differences between one’s own people and all others on the planet.”

And yet, MAGA Christians and tech-bros… unite?

(1/3) Reviewed Europe’s Industrial Revolution for a student last week and came across this (paraphrased):

"Paying factory workers became more economical than housing and feeding enslaved people—indirectly leading to slavery’s end." (See photo)

Capitalists cut costs then…
