waiting for the butterflies…
I love the blues. I think they’re my favorites. This pale grass blue is native to Asia and its host is oxalis, a common garden weed. Best of all, they’re homebodies. They’re born in my yard and stay their whole lives.

This is a female Angled Sunbeam butterfly (Curetis acuta). The larval host (caterpillar food plant) for this butterfly is kudzu. I only ever see these in my garden in November and usually only one or two each year. They “hibernate” as adults during the winter in my dogwood tree.
