Imagine we didn’t rely on Alexis as a deep pivot and used him where he earned rave reviews as an offensive player for Brighton.
Imagine if we had someone as solid as Elliot Anderson in the Alexis role at the moment playing along side Szobo.
Imagine being able to rotate midfielders with quality.

It’s no coincidence our best performances came when Wirtz and Salah put in a shift from the front line and worked their asses off off the ball. This team can’t carry people anymore. Gakpo, Isak zero intensity, Salah incredible player but has always had either Dom or Hendo doing his workload.

Take out the fight and defensive tenacity of Diaz, Nunez, Jota, and move Dom out of the #10 role and you have a horrendously exposed midfield of Alexis and Grav. Alexis who can get stuck in but does not have the physicality and Grav who is not a hunter. It’s no wonder we get walked through with ease

I’ve been pretty harsh on Liverpool in the last couple of days. I’ve had a shit shit year and Liverpool were one of the only things that I felt positive about. Watching them absolutely crumble with pedestrian levels of effort, I’ve exhausted my empathy, champions do not crumble. My support goes on.
