#4 Fàbrica da Nata: OK I did ask for a darker one but that might be taking things a little far. Pastry very buttery and not as crisp as some, filling a bit liquid. Did come with a glass of port for €3.90.

#3 Casa São Miguel: Crisp, thin pastry, slightly less filling than some. Lovely filling, would've liked to have tried one warm. Plate a clear winner.

#2 Pastelaria Santo Antònio: extremely buttery, almost greasy pastry, though the right amount of crispness. Little concerned about structural integrity but the filling was entirely delicious (bonus points for being warm).

I am in Lisbon and I am eating pasteis de nata (also other things, but one must prioritise). #1, Deguimbra Pastelaria: weighty, good crunch on the (thick) pastry. Very sweet, but the pastry was made with salted butter which cut through it well. A solid start.

Busy Lizzies out, pansies in, woodlouse invasion repelled. Never that fussed about gardening but I'm enjoying my window boxes so much, is this a sign of middle age
